Protect furniture and appliances during a move

Protect furniture and appliances during a move with measured access, suitable packaging and model-specific manufacturer instructions for transport and restart.

Practical guides

To protect furniture and appliances during a move, check passages, prepare each item for transport and follow its manufacturer’s instructions. Outer packaging protects against impacts, but does not replace required transport restraints or restart procedures.

A refrigerator and washing machine may look ready once covered with a blanket. Their preparation is different. Finding the model reference is often more useful than general advice meant for another appliance.

Start with furniture and passages

Measure the prepared furniture, doors, corridor turns and stairs at both addresses. Determine what can be dismantled under its design, then identify parts and screws. Do not force an uncertain joint or passage.

Protect surfaces and corners using suitable materials without attaching adhesive directly to a finish it might damage. Flag glass, unstable parts and belongings requiring special handling. Moving without a lift explores the route between room and vehicle.

Prepare the washing machine under its instructions

In its washing machine moving guidance, Bosch explains securing the drum with suitable transport devices and removing transport restraints before use. These instructions concern its appliances; find your model’s procedure before intervening.

Prepare disconnection and drainage of residual water according to the manual, with qualified help if needed. Do not replace a required device with improvised cushioning. After arrival, check installation before the first cycle.

Avoid one waiting time for all refrigerators

Samsung’s support page distinguishes powering up according to transport position. That is why one waiting time for all refrigerators would mislead. Your model’s instructions and actual transport conditions remain the reference.

Before departure, organise emptying, defrosting and drying as instructed. Confirm position and securing during transport. Do not buy first-night food on the assumption that the refrigerator will work immediately.

Assign dismantling and restart tasks

Write down who disconnects, transports and reconnects. Transport does not automatically include electrical, gas or plumbing installation; tasks requiring qualified intervention should go to an appropriate person. Keep manuals, references and useful condition photographs.

We prefer delegating an unfamiliar technical task over risking an unusable appliance for a small saving. BienLibre aims to simplify settling into a direct rental, but no technical service is announced as available here. Add these tasks to provider selection and your schedule, separately from ordinary box packing.
